Director's Note
Inspired by my studies in anthropology, I wanted to make a film that would capture the Anthropocene, this current geological epoch where human activity permeates everything, and where natural phenomena become inseparable from social ones. In this strange new world, the slightest snowflake falling from the sky triggers all sorts of reactions: mechanical, playful, bureaucratic, nostalgic. Then, a friend of mine played me a composition he was working on, in which he used the famous siren sound of Montreal snowplows to create a mysterious and bittersweet melody. Taking this musical composition as my sonic inspiration, I decided to document winter around me. To try to discover and reveal, through images and interviews, the rich and complex interactions between city dwellers and these troublesome snowflakes.
