Short Synopsis
To celebrate his 18th birthday, Édouard spends a weekend at the chalet with his friends. Amid laughter and complicity, their brotherhood seems unshakeable... until Édouard's boundaries are crossed. The unexpected arrival of his big brother Max late in the evening confronts the group with its own contradictions.
Through an exploration of masculine dynamics, Brothers in Arms questions how perceptions of consent are shaped and challenged.

DIRECTOR - BIO
Trained in film direction at UQÀM, François Lalonde enjoys creating works that are generous with their audience. In this sense, he is a fan of coming-of-age films, a genre that allows him to use the codes of popular culture, but above all, to maximize the emotional turmoil of his characters. Behind his cynicism, François hides a multitude of rays of hope.
As a director, he directed the short films En jeu (2022) and Le temps d'un spleen (2022), which have had successful festival runs. His upcoming short films Frères d'armes and Après le close will have their festival premieres in the coming months.
Alongside his work as a director, François also works as an assistant director. He has also worked on several feature films and series (Les Météorites, Les Mal-Aimants, La terre appelle Mathilde, Le temps d'un été, We are Zombies).
DIRECTOR'S WORD
At a time when masculinist discourse is increasingly reaching young people on social media, with Brothers in Arms, I wanted to offer a sensitive and positive vision of what a guy can be. By offering a critical, yet compassionate, look at current issues of sexual consent and toxic masculinity, the film immerses us in the frenzy of a night of teenage debauchery. Between what we think we know and what we've actually seen, how do we react to the problematic behavior of someone we love?
