LOGLINE
Charlotte is trying to complete her first year of sobriety, but on this sweltering evening, the urge to drink is so strong that she fears a relapse. However, she discovers that her sponsor, Jeanne, is drunk.
SYNOPSIS
Charlotte is an alcoholic trying to complete her first year of sobriety. One evening, when the urge to drink is so strong that she fears a relapse, Charlotte goes to see her sponsor, Jeanne, an alcoholic who has been sober for over five years. However, upon arriving at Jeanne's, Charlotte finds her sponsor intoxicated. With the roles of helper and recipient now reversed, Charlotte decides to intervene.

Biography
A Montreal native, Julien Hardy-Cardinal graduated from the film program at the Université du Québec à Montréal in 2021. His graduation film, "Nos empreintes" (2021), was screened at two major Montreal festivals. Julien then wrote and directed "Chez elle" (2022), his first independent and professional film. "Chez elle" was selected for more than fifteen national and international festivals. In parallel, Julien developed "Les sous-marines," a short film inspired by his own struggle with alcoholism. Sober for over four years, this is his most personal project to date. As a filmmaker, Julien seeks to explore the complexities of human relationships and struggles, and to express the truths he discovers through films featuring authentic characters.

Biography
Sara-Maude Catellier is an emerging producer and filmmaker. Having studied cinema at the Université de Montréal, she quickly set her sights on producing short films. Sara-Maude is president of the young production company 1/1 Première, where she produces a variety of short films that all share a common goal: to move the viewer. She seeks to build strong creative collaborations that push the cinematic medium further. She loves sensitive, poetic works with nuanced characters. Her versatility gives her a complete vision adapted to each production she takes on. At the time of Les sous-marines' release, she had produced four short films and was developing two new fiction projects.
