A Montreal native, Julien Hardy-Cardinal graduated from the Université du Québec à Montréal's film program in 2021. His graduation film, "Nos empreintes" (2021), was part of two major festivals in Montreal. Julien then wrote and directed "Chez elle" (2022), his first independent and professional film. "Chez elle" has been selected in more than fifteen national and international festivals. At the same time, Julien developed "Les sous-marines," a short film inspired by his own struggle with alcoholism. Sober for over 4 years, this is his most personal project to date. As a filmmaker, Julien wishes to explore the complexity of human relationships and struggles, and express the truths he discovers there through films of authentic characters.
